Josephine McKay

Josephine McKay

CIBA, B.Comm. ('00), MBA ('08)

Josephine has her roots in the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, Beaver Lake  and Cumberland House. She is proud to have completed her B.Comm. in 2000 and credits family, friends and particularly her sister Lori, with supporting her throughout her studies. She also is grateful to then Aboriginal Student Support person, Angela Bellegarde, for helping her through the tough times.

Culture plays a significant role in defining who Josephine is, and who she has become. She believes it is a key contributor for the resilience needed to pick up and keep going during tough times and to overcome systemic abuses.  She is proud of her Nehiyawewin Cree roots.

Josephine is inspired by her two children, Zach and Zoe and says they are central to her drive and motivation.
